about

While writing this EP, I did not just want it to all be electric guitar based music. I always loved the sound of my acoustic guitar, so I decided to put in some more "organic" sounding songs on this EP. What came out were Transient and Anima. Transient was a really fun song to write in every aspect of the instrumentation. Writing this song on an "upbeat" was definitely a new thing for me and was a fun challenge. I originally rented a Djembe to do all the percussion on, but I wasn't able to mic it up properly and had to go the VSTi route instead. I think it might've been a blessing in disguise because it gave me access to sounds and timbres I didn't even think of adding.

Lyrically, this song is about Toronto and how a person I met online a few years ago ended up being one of my greatest friends.

lyrics

Good morning, East Coast
Did you sleep last night?
I've been up since the break of dawn
With only one thing in mind.

And I think of you
Every time I look at my phone and
I hope we'd meet each other soon.

And I found out that
The best things in life I left at home
And strangers I have never met
Mean more to me than I would ever know

"So long, West Coast",
I can't wait to say those words.
Take me away from this rain
And all these cloudy days.

And I wish we could
Finally talk face-to-face and
Laugh at the things we used to do.

And I found out that
The best things in life I left at home
And strangers I have never met
Mean more to me than I would ever know

Let's cheers for the last three years
of our lives.
I'm surprised we even made it this far
And the distance won't seem like much
As long as we cross it off.
It's strange how someone I never met
Could impact me so much
This means everything to me

And I found out that
The best things in life I left at home
And strangers I have never met
Mean more to me than I would ever know
