Instrumentally, La Alma echoes the sentiments from Euphony. I approached this song wanting to make a really upbeat and energetic song (almost like a Pop Punk vibe, without being too overzealous with the creative freedom making the song feel out of place). When I finished tracking vocals, I couldn't think of anything to put in there. I saw it as a perfect opportunity to get my good friend, For Salvation, to do a guest spot on the track. I remember how unbelievably stoked we were when we put everything together.
Around the time I was writing this song, my best friend and I were talking about how some people who say they will support you in anyway they can, but say and do things that's only crippling you more. That's the influence behind the lyrics, and this song is about one specific person who I'm not friends with anymore.
lyrics
It’s now been almost three years since
and still you treat me differently.
Yes, I’ve changed, through your guilt-tripping
Are you sure I’m the one not over it?
What happened to the friend (I known before),
Who said she’ll be with me (in our darkest days?)
Well, your sun has set, and night is young
Let the moonlight shine some light on.
So far are the words you said.
So far from the truth they never meant.
So, Take a step back and think this through,
I’m much at fault as you are too
So far are the words you said.
And if for some twist of fate
Our paths decide to cross again
I hope you won’t make things so awkward for me to begin with.
Or mutter more pettiness.
If it’s under your breath,
Keep those words in your chest.
And this whole time,
You played the victim
In a crime,
That you accused me for.
So far are the words you said.
So far from the truth they never meant.
So, Take a step back and think this through,
I’m much at fault as you are too
So far are the words you said.
So far are the words you said.
When you put those thoughts into my head
Lead me to a hole instead.
I know it’s not the way it seems,
Visions get confused with dreams
So tell the past it’s broken now
Wind me up,
Push me to the ground
So far are the words you said.
So far from the truth they never meant.
So, Take a step back and think this through,
I’m much at fault as you are too
So far are the words you said.
